Back to Basics: Argan Oil
Sometimes, less is more. Sometimes…oil can do more wonders than cream. The most simple version of skincare. I remember my grandmother recommended that I use tea tree oil to fix my break out problems. She, herself, would always reach out to Vitamin E oil to protect her dry skin. So how come creams and lotions seem to grace beauty shelves more often then serums and natural oils? The latter two are known to absorb into our skin better. Beauty oils have been used for centuries by women. Inspired by my grandmother, I have begun to explore the various natural oils and its beauty benefits. The first oil to be investigated is argan oil.
Argan oil, indigenous to Morrocans, come from the argan fruit that grow on trees. The oil is pressed from the kernels extracted from the argan nut. This yellow oil is known to nourish skin and hair, and is full of vitamin goodness like vitamin E and linoleic acid that has anti-inflammatory properties. Argan oil is a great for healing acne scars.
Argan oil has gained an increase presence in skincare and beauty products. Here are some of my favorite argan oil infused goodies that you could try, or gift!
Former supermodel, Josie Maran , created her beauty line around the concept of incorporating this natural oil to every product. Try the argan oil in its most organic and pure form; use it in lieu of your usual night time cream. You should see the oils moisturizing and healing results sooner than you think.
Kiehl’s Superbly Smoothing Argan Conditioner will heal your dry parched strands and fend them from further damage this winter.
In the mood for some TLC, try Espa’s Lift & Firm Mask, which is packed with the natural argan oil and will be sure to lift your spirits just in time for the holidays.
